Cube World Series
Hmmm, now how can we describe Cube World without sounding mad? Well,
it’s basically a surreal version of Big Brother, with a small,
pixelated stickman living and getting up to all sorts of things inside
a cube. But there’s more, as you can also link the cubes together so
each stickman can wander into another’s cube, which we’re guessing is
how the makers came up with the name of Cube World!
Now we all know how producers of reality programmes such as
Big Brother like to spice things up with conflicting personalities, and
it’s certainly no different in Cube World, which is why the makers are
always bringing in new characters. Series 1 bought 4 different
characters: Dodge (who likes kicking a ball), Whip (who’s pretty nifty
at rope tricks), Slim (who plays with a stick) and Scoop (who plays
with his dog).
The popularity of Series 1 forced the makers to bring out Series 2 and
3, which as you’ve probably guessed, has introduced even more sticky
characters: Handy (likes DIY), Dusty (always cleaning), Mic (likes to
sing into his microphone), Hans (forever exercising), Toner (an office
worker), Dash (does deliveries), Chief (a Policeman) and Sparky (a
fireman).
Then came the Cube World Places allowing you to take the whole lot to
the circus, a rock concert or even on holiday. These are much larger
than the regular cubes and with the addition of sound, just build the
whole lot together for serious stick man activity. Will these guys ever
stop, of course not, how could they!
The newest addition, Cube World Series 4, introduces a bunch
of crazy sporting stickmen. The pixelated stars include Slam (a
basketball player), Grinder (a Skater), Slugger (a baseball player) and
Kicks (a footballer).
Each cube has a set of 3 buttons that let you control your man
so he does a range of different activities - although he will entertain
himself if left alone for a while - but the real fun starts when cubes
are linked together, as the stickmen just leap into their neighbour’s
world as and when they feel like it! And if they don’t feel like it,
you can tip the cube and your stickman will cleverly tumble into the
adjacent one. Technology huh?!
Though as with life, you never quite know how different
characters are going to get on, so prepare yourself for the sight of
stickmen doing anything from tug-of-war, dancing, leap-frog or even
bungee-jumping! The possibilities are endless, and since the full set
of 18 cubes and characters can be linked together, CubeWold is one
seriously entertaining toy!
